We’ve all been there. Staring at the computer screen or a piece of blank paper with not a single thought in our head except, “I have to write something. What the heck do I write?”
To stay top of mind with customers and fans, you need to produce new content. Not just any content – but relevant, hard-hitting content that keeps people coming back for more. Hitting a mental road block for a few days can set you back for quite some time, and we can’t have that can we?
If you’re stuck in a content rut, I have a quick and easy tip to help you get over the hump and generate really good content ideas quickly and easily.
Know Your Audience
One way to generate quality content quickly is to know your audience so well that you are able to answer their questions before they even think to ask them. In doing so, you’re providing them a service, going above and beyond to help them. That type of relationship will continue to bring you new followers, advocates, and customers time and time again.
So how do you go about answering their questions before they even ask them? Friends, let me introduce you to Ubersuggest. You provide one or more keywords, and Ubersuggest gives you a comprehensive list of all the phrases users who have searched Google have paired with your keyword(s). Think of when Google provides you suggested searches, but better.
Seriously, you and Ubersuggest should be buddy-buddy when it comes to developing content.
When you are able to predict your customers concerns and problems ahead of time, you are beating a major percentage of your competitors who are reactive – not proactive.
Grab a pencil and a scrap of paper, and write down your top 5-7 industry keywords that you consider yourself knowledgeable in. For me, it’s:
- Social Media
- Content Marketing
- Social Media Strategies
- Growing Social Media
- Content Creation
After you have your quick list, navigate to Ubersuggest. Choose your language and source, plug in your keyword(s), and hit Suggest.
Now, you have a number of terms and phrases people are searching for that you can base your content on.
Click on the plus signs to dig deeper into the keywords and get fuller phrases and questions. Are they questions you can answer? Good! Those are questions that people are asking. Now it’s time to go write a blog post or cut a quick video where you answer those questions!
When you’re in a pinch, and not sure what to write about, the easiest way to generate some quick content ideas is to use Ubersuggest. Don’t be afraid to throw in “how to” or “ways to” or any of the other W’s (who, what, when, where, why and how).
Now that your brain has had the jumpstart it needs, grab your content calendar and start filling that baby in!
Sound Off! What other ways do you use to break free of writers block?
